Al-Muheb Ibn Abi Al-Hasan Al-Bakri
Al-Muheb Ibn Abi Al-Hasan Al-Bakri (1): The Shafi’i jurist, Muhammad Bin Ali Bin Ahmed Bin Abdul-Munim Bin Abdel-Rahim Bin Yahya Bin Al-Hasan Bin Musa Bin Yahya Bin Ya’qub Bin Najm Bin Esa Bin Sha’ban Bin Esa Bin Dawud Bin Muhammad Bin Nuh Bin Ali Bin Abdullah Bin Abdel-Rahman Bin Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq, was a descendant of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq whose ancestry could be traced to the tribe of Taym, a sub-clan of the tribe of Quraysh. Known as Al-Muheb Bin Al-Nur Abi Al-Hasan of Egypt, or simply “Ibn Abi Al-Hasan,” he was born in Dahrut, Upper Egypt in either 771 or 772 AH.
Ibn Abi Al-Hasan’s father took him to Cairo, Egypt, where he learned the Qur’an and was educated under the tutelage of many different sheikhs. He performed the Hajj pilgrimage in 820, 837, and 842 AH. In Egypt, he traveled to Damietta, Alexandria, and Qus—and starting in Dhul Qi’dah of 835 AH, he served as a deputy judge for Al-Shams Al-Akhna’i and his successors. He suffered from extreme hoarseness after the year 835 AH, making it difficult for his voice to be heard. He died in Yanbou’ (2) near the end of Dhul Hijjah in 843 AH while he was returning from Hajj. His body was prayed over there before being buried there as well. He was 72 at the time of his death.
