Shams Al-Din Ahmed Al-Suhrawardi
Shams Al-Din Ahmed Al-Suhrawardi (1): The extraordinary Shafi’i imam, scholar, and writer, Shams Al-Din Ahmed Bin Yahya Bin Muhammad Al-Suhrawardi, was from the tribe of Quraysh and a descendant of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq. He had knowledge of the hadith and was granted an ijaza by a group of scholars. He made important contributions to different fields of knowledge and was a master of the Arabic language and its literature. He was also highly skilled at Arabic calligraphy and penmanship. He was a talented composer of music as well as a prominent author and a mentor to the writers of his time. He had impeccable morals and was of noble lineage. Highly dignified, yet modest and humble, he always knew what to say in any situation. He performed righteous deeds, had a generous disposition, and was always keen to obtain knowledge. He was always preoccupied with beneficial work and was known for his good ideas. He was extraordinarily well spoken and expressed himself eloquently. He died in 741 AH.
