Kulthum Al-Siddiq (The Poetess)

 

Kulthum Al-Siddiq (The Poetess) (1): Kulthum Al-Siddiq is a contemporary poet whose full name is Mrs. Karima Bint Sulaiman Bin Sheikh Bin Abi Hafs Bin Al-Tayyib Al-Bushikhi Al-Bubakri. She hails from the tribe of Awlad Sidi Sheikh (also spelt “Ouled Sidi Cheikh”) in Morocco and was born in 1957 AD in the city of El Aioun Charkiya (also known as El Aioun Sidi Mellouk), near Oujda, Morocco. She is a superbly sensitive multi-talented poet and artist with a refined sense of taste who has been described as “the poetess of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq’s family.” Known as an Islamic poet, Kulthum Al-Siddiq has authored several works of poetry, including Song of the Sea, The Bridge to Loving the Nation, Harbors of the Soul, Uhdhur libahth ‘an Al-Hadhra, and Thaqafat Al-Hadhra fi Al-Mujtama’ Al-Bushikhi. Among her most beautiful poems is One of Two, an ode to Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq which begins:

History is fragrant with the scent of your remembrance.
